Welcome

Hi! I am the lucky Richard Chang that was able to snag the richardchang.com domain. Why is this such a feat? Read this page here: Are you the Richard Chang who ...?" to learn why. There are a lot of me out there -- well, there are a lot of folks with my name... There is only one me! (Much to the relief of the world!)

Background

I am a first generation Asian American originally from New York now living in Michigan.

General Interests
  • General Interests: Racing anything with wheels, motorcycles, fast cars, soccer.
  • Music: My music range is quite diverse: Pop, Classic Rock, Heavy Metal, Hair Bands, Classical, some Jazz, Top 40, Modern Rock, and Alternative. I did said diverse, didn't I?
  • Movies: Happy Gilmore is one of my all time favorites, the Star Wars and Lord of the Ring trilogies. I am a big fan of comedies. Dramas, it depends. Horror flicks I can't sit through because I am too much of a wimp - I have a hard enough time with the Discovery Medical channel.
  • Favorite Drinks: Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino, beer (Sam Adams and Bass), red wine, soy milk, orange juice.
  • Currently Tivo'ing: Chuck, Pysch, Heroes, 24, American Chopper, CSI, CSI Miami, Family Guy, Grey's Anatomy, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Las Vegas, Monk, Scrubs, The Simpsons.
  • Watch Sometimes: 30 Rock, American Dad, Cold Case, Deal or No Deal, Late Night w/Conan, Tonight Show w/Jay Leno, Without a Trace.
  • Oldies but Goodies: Bernie Mac.
  • Television I have (not sure if I should admit this) seen most episodes of: Walker Texas Ranger, Nash Bridges, Law Order (up to the last 2 seasons when I lost interest).
  • Books: Mystery/Action books. I am a big fan of Stephen Coonts.
  • Heroes: Whoever invented Tivo, Chuck Norris (who else can round-house kick you back into yesterday?), my family.
  • Hobbies: Sports, R/C racing, website development, violin (I played competitvely from age 4-18 but have only played on and off since then)
Resume
  • General: I am more of a generalist and do not consider myself worthy enough to claim to be an expert in anything. However, I know a little bit about a lot of things and am able to (1) match the right resources (the experts!) to accomplish a goal and (2) manage those experts. Since 1995 I have worked for various companies that have been involved in the internet or telecommunications, including the company that built the first public internet backbone and provided the dialup infrastructure for AOL (back in their heyday).
  • Skills Summary: Technical Management, Process Evaluation, HTML/CSS, PHP, PCs, Networking (TCP/IP, Cable, DSL), VOIP, efficiently fitting/packing items into small spaces.
  • Positions Held: Vice President of Operations, QA Manager, Consultant, Engineer, Project Manager, Developer
